THIS is a hysterical article written by a husband whose wife ate her placenta after it was made into pill form.
A a non-placenta eater, I found this very comical and almost sounding like a good idea.
Almost.
And do not forget to watch the little video clip. This guy cracks me up!!!

Hi Tiffany,
I've read a lot of your blog pretty carefully and your family is very beautiful and clearly well loved.
I am a Catholic and I live in Canada. You put a lot of cool controversial things up here and I say - Rock On. And here's my question...
Why do some Christians in the US disagree so strongly with universal health care? I've always regarded Jesus Christ as the ultimate provider of universal care. I personally think that if Jesus were in the waiting room of a hospital that he would be pleased to see everyone cared for.
I ask because you posted about Hilary Clinton's plan for universal health care... but I don't think you got into why you're opposed. I'm not asking you to speak for all Christians... I've just never had a chance to ask anyone.
Granted we spend a lot of money on health care up here (and the waiting list myth is GROSSLY exaggerated) but, I'm am proud of what we do. I needed a stitches in my hand once, and had to wait because the hospital was treating a homeless man for frostbite. I know in my heart that this was the right thing.
My name is Carolanne, I don't have children yet, but I pray for them every day. And in the event that I am blessed... you nearly have me sold on home birth!
Have a great day!
Hello Carolanne!
I would love to answer your question...and I will attempt to do so in less than 347 paragraphs. :)
I will be coming from the position of a Christian, basing my answers on what the Bible has to say as well as a conservative belief that our business is just that: OURS. Not the governments. The information I am telling you has come directly from the ObamaCare bill that is being debated at present. I have a copy and have read some of it....so after i finish it I will most certainly comment further ;)
First and foremost my opposition to national healthcare is the strong belief in the sanctity of life. ALL life, not just "wanted" or "useful" life. A healthcare plan that will allow for murder to take place (even lawfully) is not going to get my support. Abortion and euthanasia are the two things I am speaking of. To have this paid for by my tax dollars goes against every fiber of my being.
Secondly, the government here would have to have access to our banking accounts for the plan they are proposing. I am strongly against anyone (other than hubby) having access to our hard earned money.
Thirdly, I have read many articles from non-conservative papers in the UK about their healtchcare system. The stories trouble me greatly and I fear the same thing happening here. The priority given to some people over other people simply based on there projected quality of life was disheartening. Cancer treatment being denied to a mother of 4 simply because the odds were against her. Older citizens having to wait so long for a treatment that they ended up passing away. This is not what America is all about. American's like trying to beat the odds...we eat up stories of those who have. And yet that right could be taken away?
Another good reason is that if my husband's company does not provide this heathcare to his employee's we will go out of business. We will not participate in the universal healthcare system and we cannot afford a private insurance company for our employees; so we will be shut down. There is nothing in place for small business who chose not to participate and cannot afford another option. Oh-and this option will only be open for the first 5 years or so anyway...then we will ALL be required to partake in ObamaCare. The companies that we as a nation will lose is astounding.
If I chose not to participate I will be fined $1000 for everyone in my family, payable at "tax time". This is to "gently nudge" every US citizen to participate in this healthcare plan. This is insane on so many levels.
As you mentioned above, caring for a homeless man or anyone else that needs treatment is what the Lord would have us do. However, to force participation of everyone and to use power to eliminate "unwanted" souls is wrong.
It is also interesting to note how many Obama supporters do not support this healthcare bill. Kudo's to those willing to stand up against "their party" and speak the truth.
The cost of such a plan is astronomical. Our country does not have the money. When I personally do not have money for something I do not buy it. Period. A simple calculator would show that we as a nation cannot afford such a healthcare plan and it would be disastrous to instate said plan in the absence of funding.

Oh, I could go on but I promised a short(er) answer! :)

Thought of one more quick thing:
Doctors being put basically on a set salary takes away any push to be better and accomplish more.
I lurk on the OBGYN message boards (yes, to use their words against them. AH!) and I am seeing how even the very liberal docs are terrified of this bill....and that says a lot.
Dear Tiffany~
First, I must say I love your blog and I admire your work as a mom, and with other moms. I am also a Christian Colorado Homebirth mama of 'only' 3 boys (you have me seriously beat there):). Anyhow, I would love to hear more about your business and was wondering if you had a blog or website as far as your Doula Services and Childbirth Educator business goes? My sister and I have a business called Fruit of the Womb here in Denver. We provide Placenta Eduacation and Encapsulation (which is why I had to leave a comment here on this particular post). I have a nursing degree and have many wonderful Homebirth Midwives and Nurse Midwives to refer women to but no local (still practicing) doulas. I would love to get together and chat sometime or even chat more via email. If you are interested, please check out our new still under construction blog at www.placentapills.blogspot.com and email me at placentapills@yahoo.com
Hope to hear from you soon.
-Tamara
PS I enjoyed reading the other posts between you and Carolanne on this post.
